When it comes to natural healing and wellness, sometimes the best remedies come from the earth — or, in this case, the sea. Baja sea salt, hand-harvested from the pristine waters off the Baja California coast, is more than just a fancy sprinkle for your food. It's a mineral-rich powerhouse with surprising benefits for your body, mind, and skin.

Whether you soak in it, scrub with it, or stir it into your water — here’s why I personally love Baja sea salt and often recommend it to my clients.

1. Rich in Essential Minerals

Unlike heavily processed table salt, Baja sea salt is unrefined and sun-dried. That means it retains vital trace minerals like magnesium, calcium, potassium, and zinc — all of which support:

  • Hydration & electrolyte balance

  • Nerve and muscle function

  • Bone and joint health

  • Cellular repair and energy production

It’s not just salt — it’s nature’s own multi-mineral supplement.

2. Great in Water (This is How I Use It Daily)

One of the simplest and most effective ways I use Baja salt is in a glass of water. Just a pinch in the morning helps support hydration, adrenal function, and electrolyte balance — especially after sleep or a heavy training day.

Personal tip:

I often add a hydrogen tablet to the mix for an extra antioxidant and energy boost. It’s a small daily ritual that leaves me feeling more energised, clearer, and ready to take on the day.

It’s also a much more cost-effective way to get those mineral benefits compared to bath salts — ideal if you want big impact with minimal fuss.

3. Supports Detoxification (Fantastic in a Bath)

That said, a Baja sea salt bath still has its place. It’s great for calming the nervous system, reducing inflammation, and easing muscle tension.

Benefits:

  • Relieves joint and muscle aches

  • Promotes lymphatic flow

  • Soothes tired feet and tight bodies

  • Leaves skin soft, calm, and rejuvenated

It’s your own ocean spa — no travel required.

4. Naturally Exfoliates and Rejuvenates the Skin

As a body scrub, Baja sea salt gently buffs away dead skin while delivering mineral nourishment. It’s ideal for dry skin, blocked pores, and post-workout recovery.

You can use it in:

  • Homemade scrubs with coconut or almond oil

  • Gentle face masks (mixed with honey or yoghurt)

  • Targeted blends for sore muscles or dry areas

5. Enhances Flavour — and Digestion

Baja sea salt brings out the natural flavour of food — without the metallic aftertaste of refined table salt. Its mineral content may also:

  • Support healthy stomach acid levels

  • Aid nutrient absorption

  • Reduce cravings by restoring electrolyte balance

Try it on roast veg, eggs, or even a square of dark chocolate. Game changer.

6. May Help Alkalise the Body

Due to its mineral content, Baja sea salt can gently support your body’s pH balance — especially useful if your diet has been a little more ‘weekend’ than ‘wellness’. A balanced pH supports reduced inflammation, better energy, and calmer digestion.

Bonus: Magnesium = Magic

One of Baja salt’s superstar minerals is magnesium — something most of us are unknowingly low in. It’s crucial for:

  • Easing muscle tightness and cramps

  • Calming the nervous system

  • Supporting detox pathways

  • Improving sleep quality

A soak, scrub, or sip of Baja salt could be a natural way to top up this essential mineral.

How I Recommend Using It

As a rehab therapist, I love simple, effective tools — and Baja sea salt fits beautifully into that. Whether you're recovering from injury, supporting your nervous system, or just want to feel a little more grounded in your body, this humble sea salt is one of those underrated gems.

I personally use it daily, and often recommend it to clients as part of their recovery and wellness routine.
